Gamma-Linoleic Acid (GLA)
Original Purpose or Use:GLA is a long-chain fatty acid found in many natural foods. FDA Approved?N/A (GLA is not a drug) Scientific Results:Several studies show that unsaturated fatty acids act as DHT inhibitors and anti-androgens Observed Results:None Notes:GLA is found in many "natural" foods. It is also available from various chemical companies in a 99% pure form, but at a very high cost. Some hairloss related products include this and other fatty acids in their ingredients. LA (linoleic acid) is much cheaper (by about 900 times!) and is therefore much more financially feasible for the average hairloss sufferer. I know of one very prominent poster on alt.balspot that uses it. I think you know who you are ;) Side Effects:Unknown Editor's Rating:5/5 (but pricey!) Gender:Both Approximate Price: ~$360 (USD) per gram (not cheap!) How to get it:The price of pure GLA is so expensive that it is not feasible for the average person to use by itself. It can be purchased from various chemical suppliers by commercial account holders.
