Perifolliculitis capitis

Dear doctor, I suffer from the perifolliculitis capitis in my crown for about 5 monthes...I have lost some bunch of hairs (like a spot) in 2,3 points of my head. I want to know, which are the effective methods of treatment and also may the lost hairs regrow after the treatment? thx

Hello, I cannot give you medical advice and you should go see a physician who specializes in this area. I can give you some common-sense advice.
1. If you were diagnosed with perifolliculitis capitis several months ago, you should get another verdict to make sure that the diagnosis is correct and that your situation has not changed.
2. Find out whether your situation includes scalp scarring. Chances of recovery are better if you do not have scarring.
3. This scalp disease is usually connected with bacterial or fungal infection. You can use non-irritating topicals for the purpose of keeping the scalp well - nourished and moisturized. This will not cure the problem but will improve the appearance of the scalp. Some topicals have good quantities of anti-bacterial and anti-fungal ingredients which are compatible with infected skin or scalp.
4. Act quickly. The sooner you act the better your chances to contain the situation.
5. There is no guarantee that your lost hair will regrow but it is not out of the realm of possibility.
