How much is too much
Hey Dr. B
I have already had close to 5000 grafts - primarily in the front temporal area and hairline. I was blessed with a huge noggin and plus a high forehead -- yeaaah!
As long as one has their health - one truly should not b...tch.
Anyhow... the question today is. My crown is starting to thin. I already am on minoxidil/finasteride and laser
Its slowing it but not halting it completely
The doc has stated even though I have excellent donor density -- he wants me to wait until the crown really opens up as he feels I only have so much hair to spare.
I dont I will ever be George from Seinfeld - so I want to proceed.
Any thoughts -- thanks!
Ted,
Without seeing some photos of your scalp, long-distance diagnosis is somewhat difficult. However, if your hair restoration surgeon is encouraging you to wait--there's probably a good reason. Personally, I don't have a strict age cut-off for crown restoration. If the patient is 'young' and not responding to non-invasive treatments as one would expect, I might hesitate to harvest the donor again to transplant the crown area. As you age, crown thinning typically becomes less and less of a concern. Also, I might not want to use some of the available donor grafts for the crown, when they would be better off later on in the anterior mid-scalp (front), for example. If you want me to take a close look at what's going on, send me some photos. My email is doctorb@baumanmedical.com
Sincerely,
Dr. B.
