Propecia
Dr Bauman
You note:
if you stay on the propecia for 5 years, you have a 90% chance of looking the same or better than when you started. If you do not take propecia, after the same five years, you have a 75% chance of looking MUCH WORSE...
Do you know how the 10 year results are proceeding?Would the same stats apply?
Thank you
The medication has been FDA approved since 1997. In my practice, I have patients who have been using the medication for nearly 10 years with excellent results (similar to the 5-year data). However, I don't think that the 10 year results are being 'officially' tracked. I would expect that Propecia would maintain the same level of effectiveness since it continues to block the production of DHT. In fact, the longer you use the medication, the wider the gap between the hair you would have lost and the hair you have maintained becomes! Make sense?
