TE
Dr. Bauman,
I was diagnosed with telogen effluvium 13 mos ago, aug 2003.
Then prescribed loprax shampoo, which immediately within 2-3 weeks stopped the hair loss...thankfully.
However, except for regrowth around the edges of my scalp, i have seen almost NO regrowth.
The front and middle of my scalp are especially thin. I lost 50% of my hair, and I am devastated.
I had expected it to regrow. My health is fine and iron levels okay. Whats wrong? Some say there is no hope, others say give it more time, it WILL grow back.
I need your expertise and feedback.
sincerely,
shohreh
In my experience, the telogen effluvium sometimes reveals an underlying tendency toward female pattern hair loss. This means that if you didn't have the telogen, you might not have known that you were prone to hereditary thinning. Perhaps, because of the TE, you are now seeing the decreased coverage. Most patients take months (up to a year) to see regrowth after a TE episode. Some never fully regain the coverage completely. In these cases, after a complete examination, we begin a hair restoration regimen, which may include minoxdil, laser therapy, or even hair transplantation. Have you been to a doctor that specializes in hair loss?
