hair pulling /hair loss/teenager
my daughter has recently started pulling her hair, she has lost a great amount of hair what can i do to make her hair grow back sooner?
Dear JoAnna,
The condition is called trichotillomania and is relative common in teenagers. It is often related to emotional issues and requires the attention of a physician. Your daughter's regular doctor is a good place to start. A psychologist or psychiatrist is sometimes also needed.
Once your daughter stops pulling, her hair should begin to grow over 3-6 months on its own. No specific treatment is required.
Sincerely,
Dr. Bernstein
