dutasteride/avodart
I've been using propecia for around 4 years, and while it's slowed the thinning it certainly hasn't stopped it. What are your feelings about dutasteride/avodart?
Propecia is safe and effective. We know it works 90% of the time. Avodart/dutasteride might be better, but there are risks involved. Rigorous testing of dutasteride (benefits and side-effects) has not really been performed for hair loss sufferers. It is important to know that doctors that specialize in hair loss do not have the same confidence in dutasteride, like we have in propecia. If a patient understands the significant risks involved with dutasteride, then I don't have a problem prescribing it.
Every doctor will have a different comfort level with dutasteride.
