can minoxidil aggravate chest pain?
I was having chest pain so I stopped using minox 5%. I had been using it for four months without a problem. It turns out that my chest pain was probably due to a torn muscle or tissue, as I had no other symptoms that would indicate heart problems. The pain came and went, and then came again. (A nasty muscle problem). Once I restarted minox, it felt like the pain immediately came back, so I immediately quit. Could that be a coincidence, or could the minox actually have aggravated the condition so quickly? I only use a little in the upper "M" crevices of my hairline. It hasn't grown anything, but it really seems to make my existing hair behave better. Does it sound like I should stop, or would it be okay? Thanks.
If you are young and healthy, I doubt that the minoxidil caused the pain. However, I would make sure that all medical issues are ruled-out before restarting the medication. I am not aware of any reports of minoxidil causing muscular chest-pain (or cardiac chest-pain either). Are you on Propecia?
Sincerely,
Dr. B.
