Hair loss and thinning due to excessive rubbing
Dear Dr. Bauman,
I'm 23 years old and I noticed my hair was thinning in one particular spot where I seem to rub longer and harder than the rest of my hair when I dry it (around forehead area). I'm wondering if this is permanent hair loss or temporary and if temporary how long will it take untill I start seeing significant results?
It's odd because growing up my parents always described me as having "bear-hair." Thank you for your time.
Without seeing a photo of your current hair loss status, it would be a little difficult for me to tell exactly what is going on. It is very unusual for excessive rubbing with a towel to cause hair loss. If you are having a recession of the hairline in the forehead, it might be the start of male pattern hair loss.
If you'd like, you can start a 'virtual consultation' by visiting www.baumanmedical.com and/or following the link below:

Do you have any hair loss in the family?
Sincerely,
Dr. B.
