Revivogen for Frontal (temple) Hairloss
I am 24 years old and notice thinning hair/miniaturized hair/baldness on my temple areas.
On Propecia website (http://www.propecia.com/finasteride/propecia/consumer/index.jsp)
it states "There is not sufficient evidence that PROPECIA works for receding hairlines at the temples."
I would like to first try Revivogen. From your other comments I understand that you suggest the FDA approved medication Propecia, however if I was to use Revivogen; from an unbiased medical opinion is there any dangerous side effects or dangers that you think may result from the use of Revivogen? Is it safe? Thank you.
Revivogen is not likely to cause harm. However, if you have male pattern hair loss, the treatment of choice is Propecia. I always council my patients to stick with the FDA-approved treatments first. Minoxidil and Propecia have been proven effective time and time again for male pattern hair loss. Merck (makers of propecia) tested the medication on the "anterior mid-scalp" (frontal area) and the crown (vertex). Since they did not 'test' the hairline, they can't say it works there. As a physician who only treats hair loss, I know that if you are not on Propecia, you will likely see a lot more than just a little miniaturization at the frontal hairline over time if you are not on the medication. Propecia works to stop hair loss in 5 out of 6 men. The longer you delay taking Propecia, the more likely you will need hair transplantation to restore hair to the temples over time.
Let me know what questions you have.
Sincerely,
Dr. B.
