whiteheads on scalp
Hi, I had been picking my frontal scalp for about 5 years, and I have some white heads on my scalp and I always picked on them. I don't really scratch or pull out my hair, I just pick on the white bumps on my scalp. I have a high forehead since I was little, but I'm not sure if picking the whiteheads is causing my hairline to recede even more. Could you please tell me if picking the whiteheads could cause permanent hair loss? Thank you
Inflammation of the skin of the scalp can certainly cause hair loss if it occurs for prolonged periods of time. Do you have receding hairlines or hair loss in your family? Hereditary hair loss can be contributing to the problem. Are you on any treatments?
Sincerely,
Dr. Bauman
