Hi, can I please ask you a question about Hair Simulation(tattooed
stubble) and hair transplant.
Is it safe to do hair simulation on the frontal scalp, the area around
the hair line? And will I be able to have hair transplant after the
hair simulation?
Thanks a lot for your time
WARNING: tatooing (permanent makeup) is NOT a substitute for living and growing hair. Patients who I have seen in consultation who have used tatoos for scalp coverage have regretted it. Remember the tatoo is a 2-dimensional coverage. Hair is 3-dimensional. Tatoos tend to fade and change color with time, they can also create scar tissue under the skin. The only time we recommend permanent makeup (tatoo) is in conjunction with eyebrow transplantation. Hair transplantation of the hairline requires follicular-unit grafting methods and a keen artistic eye. For a 'simulation' of a hairline, I use a computer imaging program. This allows us to discuss what is realistic, BEFORE we perform any procedure.
Let me know if this is clear.
Sincerely,
Dr. Bauman
