receding hair
hello doctor,
im 22 year old male. i am noticing that my hair has receded in the front. i believe this is because of some continued stress i went thro.otherwise i got pretty thick hair.
i just want your advice if it is possible to regrow hair in those areas.
thank you
While stress is generally not healthy, receding hairlines are typically due to male pattern hair loss--a hereditary condition. The treatment of choice for stopping the progression of male pattern hair loss is Propecia. Propecia is a safe, effective way to protect the hair you have. Being a prescription, it needs to be prescribed by a physician--prefereably a specialist in the treatment of hair loss (as opposed to a dermatologist or primary care doctor). The earlier you start Propecia, the better chance you have of keeping your hair. 90% of men on propecia look the same or better after 5 years. If you choose not to be on propecia, you have a 75% chance of looking MUCH WORSE after five years. The only way to restore living and growing hair into a balding area is through a hair transplantation procedure.
Good luck and keep me posted.
Sincerely,
Dr. B.
