male patternn hair loss on women
Have seen 2 different dermatoligsts. I am a 64 year old female. The 1st dr. told me I had post-partum hair loss???? at 64? and to use MENS 5% ROGAINE. The 2nd dr. told me that I had male pattern hair loss - most of my loss is frontal and receding. He told me it was not reversable and perhaps Rogaine MAY help. QUESTION: Is there such a thing as post-partum hair loss on a 64 year old woman? Second question: can I use 5% Rogaine once a day (men's strength), or do I need to use Women's strength Rogaine 2 times a day?
It sounds like hereditary hair loss to me. Photos would be very helpful. Regardless, as long as you have enough donor hair, transplantation would likely be a viable option for you to restore your frontal area. Also, you can use 5% minoxidil to protect yourself from future loss.
Receding hairlines however almost always require transplantation.
Sincerely,
