hairloss and heredity
Is it possible to be losing your hair when no one on your mothers or fathers side is bald? I dont think anyone on either side is bald. My dermatologist just told me that thats what it depends on. Also would you ever prescribe proscar to be cut into 5ths for your patients? I was wondering about asking my dermatologist about it, but I doubt he will prescribe it for off label use.
Your advice is very helpful.
Sorry, many people come to me with obvious male pattern hair loss and say "But, doc, there's no one in my family with hereditary hair loss," and I simply reply, "There is now!"
But seriously, your family tree has 'deeper roots' than your living or photographed relatives! I don't recommend chopped up Proscar. Why make it harder on yourself? It's impossible to consistently get the correct dose that way. Also, if you are getting your insurance to pay for your hair loss treatment, many people consider that insurance fraud.
Stick with the Propecia.
