Terrible itch
Dear Dr Khadavi,
I have been using Kirkland Minoxidil 5% solution for six months now and the last two months I have been experiencing terrible insatiable itches to the front temple area and top of my scalp (not so much the crown area).
These itches are very intense and usually occur while I am asleep so I cannot stop myself scratching which causes damage to my scalp and hair.
Please lend me your experience in what I should change in my regime (curently Nizoral and Kirkland 5% twice daily).
I was considering using Xandrox but then I am afraid that I will have the same problem.
Please help me with this problem I am experiencing and advise me to what I should do in order to get over this problem that Kirkland Minoxidil 5% causes to my scalp.
Thank you very much in advance,
Nick.
Dear Nick,
You are experiencing irritation from the Propylene Glycol in the Minoxidil formula. Xandrox will result in the same problem. You should discontinue the Minoxidil and use Nizoral Shampoo alternating with Neutrogene T-Gel Shampoo for 1 month then initiate treatment with an anti-DHT treatment like Propecia or Avodart or Revivogen.
