DHT and Testosterone...
if DHT which produced by testosterone is responsible for hairloss then why when we grow up and testosterone levels decreased we loss more hair???
is it possible that testosterone needs for the help of the hair and when it decreased you start loosing more hair???
thanks
Here's the scoop on DHT. Yes, it is a breakdown product of Testosterone. DHT is the trigger for male pattern hair loss. Even a small amount of DHT causes hair loss to occur if you are 'genetically suceptible.' If you are prone to hereditary hair loss, the DHT works to gradually miniaturize follicles in the scalp (hairline, then crown, then the pattern meets in the middle).
If you start Propecia, which stops the production of DHT, you will stop the progression of hair loss in 90% of men. The five-year results on Propecia show that 90% of guys on the medication look the same or better.
Let me know if this clears things up.
Sincerely,
Dr. B.
