Dr. Khadavi, Do you think that taking finasteride or dutasteride with hypothyroidism will help? I guess I'm worried about my hair never coming back. I have very thin white hairs where I have lost thick hair. Do you think that after a few months of taking hormone replacement it will come back? Have you ever had any questions about hypothyroidism before?

Answer

Finasteride or Dutasteride will not be effective for hypothyroid related hair loss. You need to have your thyroid level monitered and controlled to be able to regrow your hair.
