Receding
Doctor, i have a receding hairline that is in its first 3 years of moving back-so i can tell. I am 28 years old, and I am planning on having a child in the next year. I read that Propecia is extremely dangerous to a fetus when handled by a women. Can a fetus be at risk through the sperm of a man? Is it ok for me to take at this point? Will it harm my child? thanks.
As long as you (not your wife) is the one taking Propecia, there is no risk to your unborn child. The fetus cannot be harmed through the ejaculate of a man taking propecia. A very, very, very tiny amount of propecia is present in the ejaculate. You would have to produce 3 liters of semen per day (and transfer this amount to your wife during pregnancy) in order to have even the slightest effect on the fetus. In other words, it is no problem for you to be on the medication and conceive a child with your wife.
Sincerely,
Dr. B.
