Dr. Khadavi, Every male on my mother's side of the family was balding by their early twienties and bald by 30. I'm 23 and haven't had any signs or thinning yet. Does this mean I'm in the clear? All the males on my father's side have kept their hair but I was told that MPB is passed maternally...please advise

Answer

Dear Jason, You may have obtained your genes from your fathers side of the family. However MPB may start as early as the teens and as late as the 40's.
