Severe hair loss
I started losing my hair(Beautiful, long, thick), after giving birth. It has continued in handfuls day in and day out for 8 months. I was so attractive and now I haven't been out of my house for months. I am also losing brows, lashes, body hair. I have psoraitic arthritis, hypothryoidism, and psoriasis-none of which ever caused hair loss before. My derm did 2 biopsies and said it was telogen effluvium because there was no inflammation. But I am almost bald. I look like a monster. I don't want to live like this. Do you have any theories, advice?
Pam Jennings
Pam,
I am sorry to hear about your severe hair loss. The sudden loss of all body hair is the sign of something beyond what we can typically treat in a hair restoration practice. If it is truly TE (telogen effluvium), there is a good chance the hair will return. It is important to monitor your medical conditions and nutritional status. Are you using any treatments to enhance hair growth?
Sincerely,
Dr. B.
