On trying new things for hair loss

Posted on Wednesday 15 March 2006

If you’ve been following my situation you’re aware of the fact that on top of my regular male pattern baldness, I also have folliculitis, and that despite the fact that I am a good responder to some treatments, I also have a very sensitive scalp that start reacting to the topicals I use over time.

This is why I used Inflamil a while ago to help get my inflammation under control, and also why I don’t use a daily topical as a part of my treatment regime anymore.

But I like to try new products out every once in a while, and that’s why today I ordered a product called NanoSal Shampoo from Lipoxidil.   This is the only Minoxidil containing shampoo I have ever heard of.

I’ve always wished that a shampoo containing minox would become available.   My hope is that because this shampoo is supposed to be alcohol and propylene glycol (PPG) free, then I won’t experience any sensitivity to it.

I’m going to try a bottle out and see how I react to it.  If I have no sensitivity I figure I’ll keep using it for a while.

I know there is a lot of controversy over the whole liposome- and nanosome-based delivery vehicles and whether the manufacturing of products like the ones from Lipoxidil really uses these technologies as stated, but that is not exactly my main concern (though it is a concern nonetheless).  My main concern is that I want to use something that contains minox but that doesn’t give me irritation, and that doesn’t aggravate my folliculitis.

Whether said product ends up actually working to fight my hair loss will remain to be seen.

I’ll review the product here once I’ve used it for  a while.

And now, the unrelated-to-hairloss picture of the day:

Thanks James, yeah I did, but I know next to nothing about photography.
