It’s been a long time since I posted pictures of my own hair. Since I have stopped Minoxidil and Minoxidil-containing products (along with all topicals for that matter) I have lost a considerable amount of hair in the crown. This should be solid evidence for anyone thinking that these things don’t work.
I have had to stop due to the fact that topicals aggravate a condition of mine (a type of folliculitis). While I have always been a good responder to Minoxidil, and hair loss treatments in general, the folliculitis has left me with no choice but to stop topicals completely (except for the mildest kinds) at least for a while. One of my favorite topicals currently is a product called InFlamil, which I have run out of and have to purchase more of.
Anyway, for those of you that are interested here are two pics showing where my hair loss is currently at and what the condition of my hair is. I am not too unhappy about the hair line, especially the density. But I am very unhappy about the crown.

I am seriously considering a hair transplant, primarily to fill out the crown area, but also to bring the hair line down by perhaps about 1 inch or so. What do you think?
If you look at my crown from when I was using Minoxidil and other topicals you’ll see that since I stopped I have lost a lot of hair in this area. Of course, the folliculitis probably has a lot to do with it. But I think it’s a combination of both regular MPB and the folliculitis that has caused such a rapid thinning in the crown.
Currently, all I am using is the lasercomb to treat my hair loss.
I think that your hair looks great, pretty solid. A transplant definetely seems like an option for you and you seem to have pretty thick hair in the donor area. I think that filling in the crown and lowering the hairline seems like a good plan. How is the folliculitis? Didn’t Dr. Bernstein say that he would be comfortable performing transplant on someone with your condition (scarring hair loss on legs but not on scalp)?
James, that’s exactly what Dr. Bernstein said. I just have to make sure that I don’t have the scarring on the scalp. I’m not in a rush to get a transplant, especially since I have enough hair that if I use dermmatch I get pretty good coverage, but I do think I’ll probably get one eventually.
